Claim your second chance for success right here. Matric rewrite (known as supplementary exams) allows you to rewrite the subjects you failed or were unable to complete. You can write your supplementary exams if you wrote the final exams the previous year.

Old Matric (Amended Syllabus):

No matter how many years you have been out of school, you still have the chance to get your matric certificate. The new Amended Senior Certificate now utilise the National Senior Certificate (NSC), i.e CAPS subjects and will retail its structure. The exams of the Amended Senior Certificate (Old Syllabus) will be written in June/July every year.

Choosing Your Subjects

When it comes down to choosing your subjects, you have to follow these guidelines:

  • You must choose 2 official language subjects. One at a Home Language level and the other at a First Additional Language level.
  • The remaining 4 subjects can be any recognised subjects in the other subjects lists.

Entry Requirements:

The following candidates will qualify for admission to the Senior Certificate:

  • Adult learners who are 21 years and older who have:
  • Adult learners with an incomplete Senior Certificate qualification.
  • Adult learners with an incomplete National Senior Certificate
  • Only in exceptional cases, out of school youth, who are 18-21 years old and who could not complete their school education due to circumstances beyond their control, as verified by the Head of Department in the Provincial Education Department.
